Brown: "We're Perfectly Fine"

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State junior guard Lorenzo Brown met with the media to discuss Saturday's game against North Carolina.

Lorenzo Brown

How is the team bouncing back from Tuesday? You mad, focused, excited? What's the mood right now.
We're perfectly fine. Everybody's back on track. We had a great practice today, and we'll continue to practice like that tomorrow.

How much does having Carolina up next help?
We're always prepared for the next game. We know that they're playing their best basketball right now. We were a little lacking the last couple of games. After today I think everybody's on beat.

What has been the main thing that has hurt you guys?
I guess just being consistent. I guess it's been a lot of nonsense going on between us. We're all grown men. We sat down and talked about it. We're perfectly fine right now.

Care to elaborate?
Little stuff I guess. I don't really want to get into it. It's all in the past.

UNC has a freshman point guard. How challenging is it when you're a freshman point guard?
It's tough to be a freshman point guard. He's doing a great job controlling his team right now. He's getting in a rhythm.

He was a McDonalds All-American. He's a great point guard.

UNC lost a lot of manpower inside. Do you feel like that can be a big advantage for you guys?
It's always an advantage down there with Richard and C.J. McAdoo is a great player. If he comes to play, it's obvious that C.J.'s going to go back at him. It's going to be fun to watch and play in the game.

I don't know if you caught Dexter Strickland's comments, about how NC State was the least of their worries... you guys don't have a right to talk about anything.
That's perfectly fine. He has his reasons why he's saying that. It's a new year, we'll see.

How big is homecourt advantage?
It's a big advantage. Once you have your crowd and once your crowd is going nuts for you there's no stopping it.

Once you get going, your shots start falling and guys get pumped. It's like nothing else.

Will they come out on the court again if you win this one?
Maybe. It's a big-time rivalry game, so I'm thinking they will.

How much do you need to beat those guys?
Especially after the loss to Wake Forest last game, it's a big game to us. I hope our guys want to win just as much as I do.

How has campus changed this week?
I'm not really on campus like that. All of my classes are right across the street from where I live. I really don't know too much.

How long did it take you to figure out this was a big game?
Soon as I got here that's what everyone was talking about, Duke, Carolina and N.C. State and how N.C. State hasn't beat them in a long time.

I was at Hargrave when they beat Duke and everybody rushed the court. I heard they shut the schools down after that, so I'm mad I wasn't hear for that.

Do you have a mental block when it comes to Carolina?
No. It's definitely not a mental block. It's definitely not a mental block.

A lot of the games haven't been close.
They had a lot of great teams over the last couple of years. Obviously, N.C. State hasn't been up to par.

Now we have a great team. Last year we had a great team. I think this year's team is better than last year's team, but we just have to work out some things.
