Recruiting Scene: Crest is a regular stopping off point for college recruiters and 2012 was no different. Quinton Patterson may not have received the attention of teammate Dane Rogers but he was a player that State identified early.

While several of the other in-state programs showed interest, only UNC-Charlotte extended a scholarship offer. However, the Pack became the first major school to offer and after a summer unofficial visit to Raleigh, Patterson decided to join the Wolfpack.

Why NC State? "I was comfortable with them on my visit there a couple weeks ago and I just felt like I was at home. I just really love the coaching staff and the environment there."

Picked NC State Over: interest from Wake Forest, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Maryland.

Scouting Report: Patterson is a natural middle linebacker. The Crest senior is a smart and instinctive football player. He reads and reacts to plays quickly. Patterson does a nice job using his hands and getting off blocks. He plays under control and tackles well. Patterson plays sideline-to-sideline and takes good angles when pursuing the football. He will need to add weight and get stronger, but should be a good player for the Wolfpack down the road. - Scout.com recruiting analyst Michael Clark
