Recruiting Scene: Gibbs committed to Illinois back in the spring, but opened up his recruitment in August and landed several scholarship offers.
He narrowed his list down to Illinois, NC State, Pittsburgh, and Michigan State before picking the Wolfpack in January.
Why NC State? "It was the visit and the coaches. I felt at home when I went there with the coaches and all the players."
Picked NC State Over: NC State, Illinois, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Indiana, Wisconsin, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, and Northern Illinois
Scouting Report: Gibbs is a big man who has solid height and bulk. He may be a little taller than listed and his frame looks like it can still support a good deal more mass with time in a college weight program.
He flashes a good initial burst, but lacks consistency. He uses his hands well and does display that he can consistently bring them and use them to create separation and help him to shed. When he fires out of his stance and keeps his pads down he can be tough at the point of attack and hold his ground, when he hesitates and catches blockers he is not as stout and can give ground.- ESPN
