Pack Lands Five on Academic All-ACC

Greensboro, N.C. – Five members of the 2012 NC State football team were named to the All-ACC Academic Football squad, as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.

The Pack's five selections marked the second-highest total in school history and the most since 2003.

Senior defensive end McKay Frandsen (Science & Technology) and graduate quarterback Mike Glennon (Master's Program) were both named for the second straight year. Linebacker Zach Gentry (Business), wide receiver Charlie Hegedus (Undecided) and tight end Asa Watson (Communications) were also selected from NC State.

Hegedus was one of just four true freshmen to be honored.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. All 12 ACC schools were represented by at least one selection on the team. The ACC has selected an All-ACC Academic Football team every year since 1954.

The team was chosen from a pool of 105 ACC football student-athletes who were nominated by their schools.
