Doeren: "They've Been Working Hard"

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Dave Doeren opened strength and conditioning workouts to the media on Thursday with State holding their Wolfpack Olympics. Doeren spoke with the media following the workouts.

Dave Doeren
"That was kind of the point, to compete and have a good time today."

"We wanted to let them go into spring break with some competition and fun... have a little bit of smack talk in the locker room until we get back and start playing."

"This was a chance for them to team up and compete a little bit."

"They've been working hard, and we've been grinding them. They came in today thinking they were going to be running, and to have the opportunity to surprise them."

"We had a NFL-like draft in there where they picked teams... we had a commissioner. Guys got to take pictures with their No. 1 draft picks... some of the coaches got up like announcers and gave post-draft analysis of the players."

"It was fun. It was a chance to enjoy each other's company and celebrate some hard work... get ready for the grind that is about to start after spring break."

"D.J. [Green's] team was pretty strong there. Watching him with the med. ball was pretty impressive."

"No, he wasn't. He actually was a third-rounder."

"It symbolizes a lot of things for our team, as far as the accountability factor and pulling your own weight."

"I love that drill. It's always fun to finish with something like that."

"Every drill we do is a competitive drill. That's all we've been doing, trying to train these guys to compete."
