NC State, Georgia Tech and Louisville have offered Kalen McCain, a safety from Hillside.
McCain picked up his offer from NC State last month and just last week he was in Raleigh visiting NC State. The rising senior told Pack Pride that he has "medium interest" in State right now and has LSU and Florida State as his favorites although neither have offered.
At 6-2, 180 pounds, McCain's stock started soaring after a junior season that saw him make 36 stops and pick off four passes at Hillside.
NC State's new coaching staff had been encouraging McCain to visit and last week he took them up on their offer.
"I went last Friday and just took a little brief tour of the campus. I liked where the athletes stayed. Those were some pretty nice apartments. I thought they were real spacious and would be nice. I like how it's located right around everything," he said.
Sometimes the most important things about a school aren't even related to football. McCain has talked football with the coaches and will continue to have that conversation in the future. But now that he has visited the new coaches he has a better relationship with them and there's some trust.
Dave Doeren and Des Kitchings spent plenty of time with McCain while he was on campus.
"Coach Doeren was cool. He's a pretty laid back coach. I thought he was real cool. I've talked to coach Kitchings a lot and I've thought he's pretty cool too," he said.
McCain attended Georgia Tech's junior day on Saturday and said he will start to map out the rest of his schedule when he returns home.
