Port Saint Lucie (FL) Treasure Coast defensive end Sean Bowens has early offers from NC State and UMass with the Wolfpack near the top of his list.
NC State isn't alone as a top contender, though Dave Doeren's program is as high as any other on Bowen's list.
"I know it's too early to say for sure but I've got NC State and Michigan State up near the top. They would probably be in the top right now," Bowens said. "I know those two would probably be in my top three. Like I said it's still early though so I'm not sure if it's going to stay that way."
Bowens hasn't visited either school. The only school he has visited so far is Miami and that was for a spring practice. The Hurricanes haven't offered but if they do they could surge into that top group along with the Wolfpack and Spartans.
Bowens' coach at Treasure Coast told him that Michigan State, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech are showing the most interest of those schools that have not offered yet.
"I want to visit Michigan (State), NC State and probably Georgia Tech and Iowa," Bowens added.
The Wolfpack offered around a month ago, according to the 6-2 defensive end and linebacker hybrid athlete, and while he has not found an opportunity to visit yet he is adamant that he will make that happen.
"I talked to coach McNutt on the phone and I've got a lot of interest in them. He talked to my dad too. I like how they play some big teams like Florida State because I love the competition," he said.
Schools have said different things but Bowens believes NC State is recruiting him as a linebacker.
Scout.com has rated Bowens a three-star prospect at middle linebacker..
