Monroe (GA) athlete Michael Gallup was supposed to visit NC State over the weekend but those plans fell through.
Now he's trying to set up another visit to the school.
"I heard about it and I was trying to get up there but I couldn't get a ride because my mom was out of town. So far they've been talking to someone at my school. He's the only one that told me about (the Junior Day)," he said.
The 6-3, 210-pound athlete is prized for his ability to play numerous positions and has a frame that's going to fill out and get a lot more impressive in the years ahead. He could end up at linebacker or even tight end depending on how much he grows. Gallup sees himself primarily as a wide receiver and perhaps with good reason. He had 639 receiving yards (and 508 rushing yards) with 17 total offensive touchdowns as a junior at Monroe.
Gallup said he has an offer from NC State but needs to learn more about the school.
"I have a pretty good bit of interest in them. I just have to get up there and see it. The big thing for me is finding a place where I can get my academics down first. I want to make sure they have good tutoring so I can stay on top of my grades. Then I just want to have fun and play football."
While Gallup wasn't able to visit NC State he has visited Auburn and Georgia. He said he liked Auburn and the academic program at the school. Gallup added that he also hopes to visit Clemson sometime in the near future.
Gallup is teammates with CB Stanton Truitt that has been offered by NC State and attended a Wolfpack junior day held earlier this year.
