"It went really good," said McClendon. "I liked everything about it... the dorms, the facilities, the coaching staff."
While on campus, McClendon had a chance to speak with the NC State coaches and said that he spent a lot of time with head coach Dave Doeren and offensive coordinator Matt Canada.
"There were telling me how State was the perfect school for me," he said. "Talking with both of them was good because I learned more about the school and the offense. They were telling me how I fit in with what they are trying to do on offense and how their offense would benefit me."
Joining him on his visit was NC State commitment Bo Hines. The Charlotte (NC) Christian wide receiver has spent a lot of time talking up the Wolfpack to McClendon.
"We've been talking a lot about NC State," said McClendon. "We've just talked about how it would be to go there and play together."
McClendon had a stellar junior year where he led West Mecklenburg to a 9-4 record, the school's best mark in nearly 25 years. He finished the season with over 2,000 yards of total offense, 22 total touchdowns, and just eight interceptions.
He has already picked up scholarship offers from NC State, Miami, Virginia, Florida State, North Carolina, Wake Forest, East Carolina, and UNC-Charlotte.
As it stands now, two programs hold the lead.
"Miami and NC State are the same right now," said McClendon. "I've been to NC State and I plan to go to Miami some time this summer.
"I'm not sure yet when I will make a decision. It probably won't be until after I visit Miami though."
