QUICK NOTES: NC State
*- NC State appears to have narrowly missed being awarded a national seed. Given they were paired with No. 8 seed Oregon, that seems to indicate the Wolfpack was the final team passed over for a national seed.
*- NC State is expected to start ace Carlos Rodon in the second game of the regional. The sophomore left-hander has an 8-2 record with a 3.48 ERA. Opposing batters are hitting just .199 against him, and he has 151 strikeouts (a school record) in 101 innings pitched.
*- This is the second straight year that NC State will host a regional and the fourth overall, with all four coming under head coach Elliott Avent (2003, 2008, 2012, and 2013).
*- NC State finished with the second-most regular season wins in program history (42) during the 2013 season. The Pack came within one game of the ACC's Atlantic Division title, and within one win of the ACC Tournament championship game, en route to its 44-14 record.
*- The Pack finished the regular season ranked in the top 10 nationally in multiple publications.
*- Sophomore Trea Turner continues to lead the team in batting (.376), total bases (110), and slugging % (.567). He also has 24 steals in 30 attempts.
*- Senior Bryan Adametz is one of the country's top contact hitters. A .320 batter, Adametz has struck out just 13 times in 197 plate appearances. He currently has an active 15-game hitting streak.
*- Jake Fincher has reached base in 56 of NC State's 58 games this season.
*- NC State has five players with at least 10 stolen bases this season. The other three teams have just two total players with at least 10 steals this season.
*- As a staff, NC State's pitchers are allowing hitters to hit just .217.
*- Sophomore pitcher Logan Jernigan has stepped up for the Wolfpack since returning from injury. 1-0 with a 1.07 ERA in nine appearances (seven starts), he has allowed just one earned run over his last two starts.
*- NC State's bullpen has accounted for 28 of the Pack's 44 wins this season.
QUICK NOTES: Ole Miss
*- Like NC State, Ole Miss may choose to hold their ace for the second game. Bobby Wahl had a terrific season, posting a 1.99 ERA, a 9-0 record, and 76 strikeouts in 90.2 innings pitched. Opponents hit just .189 against him this season.
*- The Rebels are led at the plate by junior catcher Stuart Turner. He's leading the team in batting average (.381), home runs (5), doubles (15), hits (80), total bases (112), slugging % (.533), and on base % (.452).
*- Ole Miss has just three batters hitting over .300 on the season.
*- Closer Brett Huber has had a great year, posting a 1.54 ERA and 12 saves in 20 appearances.
*- Ole Miss is 1-4 this season in neutral site games and 14-9 on the road. They finished 15-15 in SEC play.
QUICK NOTES: William & Mary
*- The Tribe has six players batting over .300 this season, led by Michael Katz (.365). Katz also has a team-high 22 doubles and a .563 slugging percentage.
*- Ryan Brown is a dangerous player for the Tribe. Hitting .329, Brown also has 21 stolen bases in 26 attempts, by far the leader on the team.
*- William & Mary is 11-13 away from home this season and 3-2 in neutral-site games.
*- The Tribe's ace is John Farrell, who is 11-2 this season with a 2.80 ERA. He has 86 strikeouts in 109.1 innings pitched.
*- Jason Inghram has also had a solid season on the mound. His eight wins are second on the team, and he leads the Tribe in strikeouts, with 96 over 96.1 innings pitched.
QUICK NOTES: Binghamton
*- Jake Thomas is Binghamton's top hitter. His .380 batting average leads the team, as does his five home runs, 36 RBIs, .536 slugging percentage, and .527 on base percentage.
*- The Bearcats have three starters batting over .300: Thomas, Daniel Nevares (.311), and David Schanz (.302). Nevares leads the team in doubles with 19.
*- A terrific fielding team, Binghamton has committed just 47 errors this season, by far the fewest of any team in the regional. Ole Miss (69), NC State (73), and William & Mary (74) have all committed more than the Bearcats.
*- Binghamton's three main starting pitchers have a combined 10 complete games, with Jack Rogalla leading the way with four. Rogalla's 2.82 ERA is the best among the starting pitchers.
*- The Bearcats are 17-13 away from home and 1-0 at neutral sites this season.
*- No. 1 seed NC State opens play with No. 4 seed Binghamton Friday night at 7:00 pm on ESPN3. No. 2 seed Ole Miss faces No. 3 seed William & Mary at 2:00 pm on Friday.
*- All games can be viewed on ESPN3.
