Avent: "I'm So Proud"

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Elliott Avent met with the media following NC State's 9-2 win over William & Mary to clinch the Raleigh Regional.

"I'm so proud of our baseball team. We always talk about where you've been, understanding where you are now and where you want to go. I can't say enough about our senior leadership."

"I tip my hat to William & Mary. That guy [Jamie Pinzino] has done a remarkable job with that ballclub. I remember their Associate A.D. called me about maybe making a change and who they should hire. I'll say they really picked the right guy."

"Our fan base at NC State is a very proud fan base. It always has been. They love their Wolfpack and they go to great lengths to watch them play."

"All you have to do is drive around campus to see Curtis and Jacqueline's names on so many buildings, so you understand the financial commitment that they made. We can't do it without that financial commitment. We don't exist without that."

"I've been in this business for a long time, I've seen so many boosters and fans, but I don't know if I've ever met two people who love their school more and wanted less. They just enjoyed going and watching us play. Win or lose, they loved their school, and they loved giving because of the joy that it brought them. The world lost a wonderful person who was so talented in so many areas."

"I know he made me a better person and a better coach. It was just two weeks ago that he came, as bad off as he was, and wanted to spend an hour and just talk baseball. I knew he shouldn't be there, but that's what he wanted. We're going to miss him."

"We just felt very comfortable in giving [Brad Stone] the baseball tonight, and boy was he ecstatic. He wanted the ball."

"It's so hard to do. Getting to a second-straight Super Regional and the third in the last five or six years for this program speaks volumes about where we are. It's so hard to play well in a short time frame."

"Sasser came in as he has done so many times and he was the guy you want to come in and just calm the seas and get us back to who we are."
