Avent: "Our Guys Will Be Ready"

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Elliott Avent met with the media to discuss the Super Regional matchup with Rice.

"It's satisfying for our players."

"I went to bed with 72 texts I tried to answer and I woke up with 112. 60% of them were from former players. They played a part in this... they know they've had a hand in this and it's satisfying from that standpoint."

"If you're one of the 16 teams left in the country right now there is not a bad one in the bunch. You don't want for anything. You just have to play well yourself. Rice will be a good challenge for us."

"It's going to be timely hitting and making a pitch when you have to make a pitch."

"We're just proud of what we've done my 17 years here, what Ray Tanner did before that, and coach Esposito built this program."

"We'd like to say it's a tradition here at NC State. It's what they do... it's what we've done."

"I believe in the history of this program."

"Our history is 1968 and that team has embraced us so much... every living member of that team may be back here, and they want this team to advance."

"We're just so proud of our tradition here and it starts with the 1968 team."

"Tradition is important... they are coached by the legendary Wayne Graham. He knows what it takes to prepare his team and so he won't make any mistakes. They feel like they are playing pretty good right now to go to Oregon and do what they did."

"Rice has been the epitome of that conference... it will be a good challenge for us. But, we're playing at home, we're playing in front of our fans. Our guys have played good the last six weeks of the season and our guys will be ready this week."

"They are pretty relaxed."

"We've tried to keep routine that's big for us... we're probably going to go with Carlos on Friday, but we haven't made that decision. It's probably going to be Carlos Rodon on Friday."

"You'd like to get that first one, and just one more, here we go, but it can be done either way. You can lose the first one and win the next two or vice versa, and if your guy is ready to go, why not?"
