NC State has landed a commitment from Hope Mills (NC) Gray's Creek standout Jefferie Gibson. The three-star prospect announced his decision today.

"It was just a family environment," said Gibson. "The coaching staff at NC State is down-to-earth, and I really fit in with them. Plus, it's close to home."

Gibson picked the Wolfpack over offers from North Carolina, Clemson, and East Carolina among others.

He had taken multiple visits to Raleigh over the past few months.

"It played a big role," said Gibson. "I couldn't see myself going somewhere that I don't know that well. It played a real big role, being familiar with the coaches and the school."

As a junior, the 6-foot-4, 190-pounder lined up at wide receiver and safety, where he totaled 70 tackles and four interceptions.

NC State is recruiting Gibson to play wide receiver.

"I enjoy playing offense," he said. "They have a plan for me playing offense at Sate and I think they need me there. But, they did say that if I get up there and don't like playing offense I can go back to defense."

Pack Pride will have more on Gibson's commitment in the near future so stay tuned!
