What are your thoughts on facing Richmond?
We have to stay focused. Richmond is a good team. They win their conference almost every year and won their national championship a few years ago.

We have to be focused and treat Richmond like any other team because they are coming in here to win this week.

Wha do you see from their defense on film?
They are a good team. They have a solid secondary with experience, and they are returning eight starters from their defense. They are ranked in the nation. They have a good defense.

From watching film, they played great against VMI. We can't beat ourselves. We have to do what we do and make sure we maintain through the game.

What are your thoughts on the special teams play in the opener?
We can find things to improve on. I can return the ball better, we might set up a different scheme this week.

Things change in the kicking game, but I can do a better job in making sure we get good field position.

What about on offense?
We have to play at our tempo. We played fast last week but we can play faster than that. That's what we practice, and we want to do it even faster this week.

Coach Doeren mentioned you may play some quarterback. I know you did it in high school.
I've always played quarterback. That would be a great opportunity. I joke with coach all the time about doing it. We laugh and joke all the time about it, and if I get that chance I'll do it to the best of my ability.

When I first got to NC State, that was the first time I didn't play quarterback. I had played it my whole life.
