Doeren: "It's Exciting"

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Dave Doeren met with the media today to discuss Saturday's game against Florida State.

"Excited to come off the bye week and be a little healthier. We are a little heathier than we've been, which is nice, but we're still missing a few guys."

"We got a lot of work done with our young players."

"It was a great week fundamentally on special teams, defense, and offense."

"Last week we didn't have the Clemson game to watch so we were basing it on the previous games from that."

"Brandon has been able to take part in all the practices."

"Pete hasn't practiced yet."

"Cato-Bishop practiced for the first time yesterday, but he isn't where he wants to be."

"Rashard was back out there catching passes and Joe Thuney was out there too."

"Florida State is a great team."

"On defense, No. 20 is one of the best players in our league, if not the country. I think he's a great player."

"It's exciting. I look forward to those opportunities."

"We have six games that are promised left on our schedule, and this is one of the six."

"The ultimate goal is to find a way to get to postseason play."

"This one plus the next five, all of them count."

"Every decision I make isn't to just win on Saturday. It's to find the best way to win with what I have."

"You have to limit the number of mental mistakes."

"You lay your foundation brick-by-brick."

"Since Jimbo has been there they've been in the top five in the country in recruiting classes every year so you're seeing that."

"Jimbo has lost some coaches but they are still running the same offense. It's his offense."

"They've done a nice job of recruiting and developing, and he did a very good job of replacing a defensive staff."

"They are very active, they are creating a lot of takeaways."

"Live arm, he's really throwing the ball well... yesterday we did more of the movement stuff with him and he looked really good."

"I don't think you can look at your gameplan and get in this guy's head. We have to do a really good job of getting to him. I think the defensive line, in games we've played well have got to quarterbacks."

"He's a really, really good player. You have to do everything you can, all 11, for four quarters and hope that it's enough."

"How do we block these plays? Every play we run we start with the protection and the scheme."

"He feels great. There is not a single play that we're going to run where we don't talk to him about it first."

"At quarterback, so many of your movements aren't scripted, things just happen sometimes."

"I wanted to make sure he could do all of that without thinking about his foot."

"That would be great wouldn't it? Really, I worry about us. We have to go down there and play clean, play hard, and take a shot at them."

"They do a good job. Jimbo is really smart with his protections."

"It comes down to our guys beating blocks, and once you do it, can you tackle that quarterback."
