One Visit Remaining For Boone

Pack Pride has the latest on Palm Beach Gardens (FLA) Dwyer safety Shawn Boone.

Palm Beach Gardens (FL) Dwyer standout Shawn Boone has taken four of his five allowed official visits and he plans to take one more.

Ole Miss is the school Boone will trek to sometime in January and the Rebels will have to impress him because the other schools he has visited have set the bar high.

Back in September Boone took official visits to NC State, Arkansas and Ohio State and each of those schools still has a shot.

His most recent official was to Penn State on November 23rd and the Nittany Lions helped their cause as well.

"Amazing. There were a lot of fans. It was cold but I got used to it after a while," he said.

The cold isn't going to cause Boone to mark the PSU trip down too much. He said 'no place is warm' (presumably with late fall and winter in mind) and won't consider that in making his decision. Boone was there at Beaver Stadium for Penn State's 23-20 loss to Nebraska and while the outcome wasn't ideal he said the environment in the stadium was electric and appealing.

NC State struggled on the field this year and won't be playing in the post season for different reasons than Penn State but Boone says he could still see himself in red and white.

"I was there two or three months ago and it was a good trip. I know the coaches very well. All of them. Richard McNutt and Coach (Doeren). I think they're going to take the program far. I thought the school and everything about it was great."

So Ole Miss gets the last shot to make their case though Boone will have in-home visits with coaches from the other schools.

"I'm gonna let the school (he chooses) know in January but I'm not going to announce until national signing day."

Boone is rated a three star prospect and the No. 122 safety in the nation by Scout.com.
