Gottfried: It Should Be A Fun Game

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Mark Gottfried met with the media to discuss the upcoming game against East Carolina.

"I think we were pleased with being able to go on the road to a team picked pretty high in the SEC and win."

"What you have to do now is come back and be ready to play again, show that you're consistent and show that you're good enough to handle success... play well, play hard. All the things that we did at Tennessee."

"Not too much. My job is to get our team ready to play each night. I don't worry about all that promotional kind of stuff."

"I've always played in-state teams. I'm going to continue to do it here. I think it's good for everybody in the state and it adds a lot of interest, but we still need to make sure we're good enough... getting better every game."

"They are a team that scores a lot of points. They get up-and-down the floor. Jeff has them playing wide open, and it should be an awfully fun game to watch. We like to score it, and they like to score it."

"They had a lot of success and won a postseason tournament (last year). We have to play well to beat them."

"I think the way they are playing this year they are a lot more wide-open, scoring a lot more points. The game has changed for everybody and there is a lot more ball screens."

"I've coached against him before and he's a terrific coach. His teams are always well-prepared."

"They shoot threes well, and they dribble-drive it well. We saw that against a team we played in Detroit where they spread the floor and take it to the basket."

"We've got to be ready for that."

"He rebounds well, he scores well. He's a good-looking freshman, he's a good player."

"It really did. I thought they played really well there... I think what jumps out you is the way they score the ball. They score a lot... they played well at Duke and that gets your attention quickly."

"I think BeeJay is getting better. He has himself where he can run up-and-down the floor and play. He played good minutes the other night. Hopefully he's going to continue to get better, get in better shape and if he does he has a chance of being a really good player here."

"They zone a lot. Jeff has his teams zone a lot. We have to be ready to play against a zone defense. We've seen it enough this year, it's not like we're going to be surprised by it. We're ready for it."
