Gottfried: "Virginia Is Unique"

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Mark Gottfried met with the media to discuss the upcoming game against Virginia.

"I think our team realizes that T.J. (Warren) needs to score. But they also realize we are going to be better if some other guys step up as well."

"We spent a couple days in practice thinking and talking about that. The guys were really unselfish."

"T.J. did a really good job of letting the game come to him too (at Notre Dame). There is a good balance that we have to get to where other guys are hunting for baskets but at the same time we don't want T.J. to lose that aggressiveness as well."

"Our team has shown great determination (and) grit all year. That was the first time, in the second half of the Pitt game, that it just seemed like we did not respond with a lot of fire. That was a little disheartening."

"I did like the fact that we got it back together on the road in a tough environment. That was something we needed to do."

"Virginia is unique. They set more screens. I don't know that we play anybody that sets as many."

"They do a good job with it. Some teams have great movement. Virginia has great movement but also screens away from the ball. They're just a little different to play against. They do a great job with their system."

"They are playing their best basketball, without question. I thought against Wake Forest they were terrific."

"They were just good from bell-to-bell. They are playing well and they have got a lot of confidence. We have got to be able to match that."

"I think with those guys you have got to have some toughness offensively. You have to execute your offense against a terrific, defensive-minded team."

"You are not going to get easy shots. You may get some on the break, but not many."

"This is going to be a good challenge for our group against a strong defensive team. That is probably the biggest thing we have sent time working on the last couple of days."
