Locker Room Report: Mark Gottfried

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Mark Gottfried met with the media following the Pack's loss to Virginia on Saturday.

"In the first half, I don't know that they could play better and I don't think we could play any worse. So a perfect storm. We were pitiful in the first half and offensively basically the whole game. We were better defensively the second half."

"There was a lot of intensity in our locker room, even towards one another. Not in a negative way, but encouraging."

"In our league you have eighteen battles, mini-battles almost. Every game takes on a different shape, every game takes on a different identity."

"We were pitiful. We bounced it off our foot, bounced it out of bounds – threw it to nobody."

"We won at Notre Dame, it's one win – that's all it is. We lose at home, that's one loss. We got to get it back."

"You have to give Virginia credit – they defended him very well. At the same time I thought he had a tough night, a very unusual night."

"Virginia defends you in a very physical way and we have to be better to play through that."
