Morehead Has Pack Out Front

NC State has taken the lead for in-state 2015 defensive back Jarius Morehead. Pack Pride has the latest on his interest in the Wolfpack.

Gibsonville (N.C.) Eastern Guilford standout defensive back Jarius Morehead has one school at the top of his list and for the moment at least he's thinking about staying close to home.
Offers and interest have come from schools all over the region, from schools in the ACC and the Southeastern Conference, but to date the case for staying close to home with a local school has proved to be the most convincing.
Morehead announced this week that NC State is his top choice and standing out among those that have offered.
"I've been to NC State three times and I got invited to the Tom Lemming thing on February 2nd. I'm going to that and the State Junior Day right after that so I'll be there for all that."
When you ask Morehead what his thoughts are on the Wolfpack his reply is telling. One should consider the fact that he hasn't made a decision yet though.
"There's a high chance that's where I'm going. I just feel good about the coaching staff and the campus. The main reason they're at the top is just because of Coach White. I really like him and the coaches. They're doing their 2014 recruiting class right now and he told me to call him when the dead period ends."
Morehead doesn't plan to make a decision anytime soon however and that means there's plenty of time for him to change his mind. NC State might have the early advantage but there's a long road ahead. The more times the coaches can get him on campus the better State's chances. Morehead said it's tough to see the Wolfpack slipping much in his eyes as he has become very close to the coaches and the program, so for a school to overtake them would require a very strong effort.
Wake Forest and North Carolina are the two other schools the safety is in contact with on a regular basis.
"I'm going to commit after next year. After my senior year is when I'm going to do it."
Morehead dealt with a ligament injury last year and that could have affected his place on recruiting boards at some schools, but he said NC State has made it clear he is a top recruit in their eyes.

In addition to the Pack, Morehead holds early offers from Georgia Tech, Tennessee, UNC and East Carolina among others.
