Recruiting Scene: Jones committed to MSU in June and that appeared to be the end of it as it related to his recruitment. However, NC State expressed interest in Jones in August and convinced him to come to Raleigh for an unofficial visit in September as buzz began to build about the Georgia lineman's interest in the Pack. The day after returning home from his visit to Raleigh, Jones switched his commitment to NC State and stayed solid all the way through signing day.

Why NC State? "I called the coaches tonight," said Jones. "NC State was just a better fit and feel for me academically and socially. Football-wise I feel that you can make it no matter what school you are at, and I wanted to be at a school where I would be happy."

Picked NC State Over: Mississippi State

Scouting Report: Tyler Jones is a very physical and imposing force on the offensive line. Jones spent some time playing tackle last fall, but will likely make the move to offensive guard once he arrives on the college level.
Jones plays a bit high at times, but he does a very good job of remaining engaged with his man until the running back has cleared the hole. The talented Jones does a nice job of getting to the next level once his back breaks containment. One of the most impressive things about Jones is how quickly he gets out of his stance and into his blocking assignments. - Scout.com Analyst Steve Robertson
