Recruiting Scene: Jaylen Samuels dominated the competition during his senior season, as he has helped lead his team to a 16-0 record and a state title.

Lining up at H-back and wide receiver for the Mavericks, Samuels finished the year with 109 carries and 1,404 yards (12.9 yards per carry) and 39 rushing touchdowns. He also had 49 catches for 932 yards and 16 more scores. Samuels scored a touchdown every 2.8 times he touched the football.

He committed to NC State over the summer after also considering offers from Ball State, East Carolina, Charlotte and some other FCS programs.

Why NC State? "I love the Wolfpack family, and I think it was the perfect decision for me and my family."

Picked NC State Over: Ball State, East Carolina, Charlotte and several other programs

Scouting Report: "He is a powerful athlete with good speed and toughness. Some may consider Samuels a tweener prospect and his size caused him to fly underneath the recruiting radar. But the bottom line is he is tremendous football player.

As a running back, the N.C. State commit is a one-cut runner and does a nice job running behind his pads. However, Samuels may be most dangerous when he lines up at receiver. He runs crisp routes and has tremendous hands.

While Samuels physical tools are impressive, the mental aspect of game should not be overlooked. He is very smart player and has a high football I.Q. He understands defenses and does a nice job of putting himself in position to make plays." - Recruiting Analyst Michael Clark
