Commit Date: April 2, 2013
Recruiting Scene: NC State's first commitment in the 2014 recruiting class, Hines picked the Pack after narrowing his focus to NC State and Nebraska.
"I'm real excited about it," Hines said when he committed. "I took most of my visits and felt like it was the right place for me.
"Actually, I didn't even go to practice today. I knew where I wanted to go and I made my calls to the other coaches just telling them no because I wanted to tell them in person. The State coaches were really excited. There were some high fives and chest bumps so it was cool."
Why NC State? "I feel like they're a high character group of guys that are committed to excellence and winning. I feel like we have a chance to win an ACC championship and a national championship with the staff that's up there so I'm really excited to go up there and play."
Picked NC State Over: Nebraska, East Carolina, Ball State, Charlotte, and Ohio among others
Scouting Report: Hines has good size and tremendous speed. He burst onto the recruiting scene earlier this year when he earned wide receiver MVP honors after posting a combine-best 4.41-second 40-yard dash at the Best of the Midwest combine held in Indianapolis (IN).
He is a reliable receiver versus all coverage and is willing to go over the middle and make tough catches. Hines can make plays on every level and seems to be a reliable route runner. He could do damage at NC State lined up out wide or working in the slot.
