Previously, Havelock (NC) wideout/linebacker Michael Bowman had listed NC State and South Carolina as tied at the top for his commitment.
That's changed somewhat as Bowman now lists USC as his top choice
although it's still very early in the process and plenty of time for
the Wolfpack to make up ground on the Gamecocks.
Bowman has been to South Carolina before and more than anything he
respects Steve Spurrier and what he has seen from the offense.
"I like them because they run a spread offense just like the one we
run at Havelock."
South Carolina has to be considered the favorite right now but it
would be incorrect to assume that means they're the heavy favorite.
Bowman said they aren't too far out in front of the other schools he
is talking to on a weekly basis. He will visit South Carolina on
March 30th so that's a date to watch on the calendar if you're
NCSU's coaches were hoping Bowman would be able to visit for junior
day with some of their other top recruits but the receiver said his
mother had to work and he did not have transportation.
His last trip to State was for a game during the football season.
"It was good. They told me to come out there more. They want me to
see the offense and come see a spring practice if I can. I've been
talking to Coach Kitchings and Coach Jackson. I've talked to Coach
Doeren too. I would say I've got medium interest in them right now."
Medium interest translates to NC State in second place. He said
North Carolina is third and ECU is fourth.
Bowman is rated a three-star wide receiver by Scout.com.
