Pack Tracking Rankin

Reidsville (NC) safety Jayron Rankin talks about his interest in NC State.

Jayron Rankin has been to NC State three times and he's attracted to the "intense atmosphere" and football environment in Raleigh.
Rankin was not able to attend the Wolfpack's Junior Day that many of the program's most important recruits were at recently but he's been on campus three times in the past several months.

He was at a camp over the summer and said he did well guarding receivers as a safety and corner in 1-on-1 drills. Rankin was also pleased with the times he turned in during the testing portion of the camp.
Rankin also made it to a pair of football games in the fall and that's where his excitement for the Pack started to build.
"I went to the Richmond game and I went to the game they played against East Carolina. The atmosphere there is really intense and the games are high energy. The crowd is great. The fans really enjoy the games. I really like that about them."
Rankin spoke with Clayton White and other coaches on all of those visits and White has visited Reidsville High School. He gave Rankin a lot of individual instruction at the camp and the attention he gave him made Rankin believe there's a good chance an offer could come down the road.

But for now the 5-9, 200 pound athlete doesn't have any offers and that's a main reason he doesn't have one school above others on his list.
Schools are still struggling to figure out where Rankin would fit in but he believes safety is where he plays best. Charlotte, Richmond and NCSU are the schools that seem to be showing the most interest.
He will visit Charlotte on the 22nd of February and is trying to set a date to visit Richmond.
