Canes Top Pack, 85-70

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The way N.C. State lost to North Carolina on Wednesday, in an emotional game, Wolfpack coach Mark Gottfried knew it would be a challenge to get his team back up for Miami on Saturday.

N.C. State couldn't repeat its effort from Wednesday's thriller and the Hurricanes made sure the Wolfpack suffered the same fate.

Rion Brown led a balanced Miami scoring effort in a 85-70 win over N.C. State on Saturday afternoon at PNC Arena.

Brown had 20 points and sophomore forward Tonye Jekiri finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds to give Miami a 2-0 record in the Triangle this season.

N.C. State fell behind by nine points midway through the second half but was able to rally behind T.J. Warren (20 points).

Warren had consecutive dunks after Miami turnovers to give the Pack a 65-64 lead with 6:30 to play. But Miami scored the next nine points. A three-point play by Garrius Adams (16 points) closed the door on N.C. State at 4:06.

Junior guard Desmond Lee (10 points) helped the Wolfpack come back in the second half after falling behind 53-44 at the 13:31 mark but Miami had its best offensive game of the season.
