Two weeks ago Michael Barnett decommitted from Virginia Tech. He's got a few new schools in mind now.
Barnett had only been committed to Virginia Tech for two months when he decided that he wanted to take another look around and check out some other options.
He hasn't visited any schools since he opened things back up but he has been in touch with several schools.
"Hopefully this spring I'll get down to NC State and North Carolina as well as Florida State and Virginia Tech. As of right now it's just Clemson, NC State, Florida State, Georgia and LSU that's standing out."
That Barnett is willing to still visit Virginia Tech is a sign that the Hokies aren't out of it yet. In one respect they have an advantage because of his history with the school. But it's still a rare thing for a recruit to commit, change his mind and then choose the school he originally picked.
Of the five schools standing out Barnett has been to NCSU, Clemson and Florida State. He hasn't been to Georgia or LSU yet.
"I've been to NC State for some camps and stuff like that. I just like the whole campus and stuff. Everything about it really. I talk to Coach Kitchings the running backs coach and we have a pretty good relationship. He just said I could be a big impact player like how Mario Williams was."
When it comes to Clemson and Florida State Barnett said he "just likes everything about" those schools. He likes the campus and the coaching staff at Clemson and while he hasn't spent much time at Florida State he had a good feel while he was there.
