Pack Reconnects With Ohio 'Backer

NC State is making Ohio linebacker David Long a priority for the class of 2015.

Winton Woods (OH) linebacker David Long (6-0, 215 pounds) learned of his offer from the Wolfpack right around signing day. He connected with the coaches again not long ago.

From the time when Long earned that offer from NC State until now there wasn't much contact between the staff and the Cincinnati player. That offer had come as a surprise because there hadn't been any contact prior to it.

Obviously the lack of contact wasn't a lack of interest and the same has been true since the offer.

"I talked to Coach Huxtable on like Thursday night. After signing day I hadn't talked to him until Thursday night but we talked again. He told me he wanted me to keep up with him weekly. He wanted me to get up there to see the campus. He gave me dates for their practices so I would be able to come when I can."

Long said he does plan to visit the school. He isn't sure when and he has not made travel arrangements but believes he has plenty of time to get that done.

When Long visits it will be his first trip to the state and the region so he's excited to make that happen for more than just one reason.

"I don't really know much about them but from what I'm hearing I like the coaches and what we've been talking about."

Michigan State has been recruiting him for a long time and he will be in East Lansing on  March 28 for one of the defending Rose Bowl champion's spring practices. He is also trying to visit Auburn but that will be much sooner and possibly even this weekend.

Long has plenty of time to visit all the schools recruiting him because he said he will make a late decision.

He is rated a three-star prospect by Scout.com.
