Mallard Creek Corner Looking for Offers

Charlotte (NC) Mallard Creek cornerback Amari Henderson is working to add offers and talks NC State with Pack Pride.

Charlotte (NC) Mallard Creek CB Amari Henderson believes more offers are coming and he's trying to research the schools he likes most in the meantime.

He visited two schools recently, Wake Forest from the ACC and Auburn from the Southeastern Conference.

Neither school has offered but both had given Henderson enough love to convince him to visit.

"Wake Forest was nice. It was a nice experience. It's right down the street and very close to home. It's a nice experience up there. They talked about my major. I want to major in broadcast journalism and they talked about how it would be very easy to accomplish that goal there. I liked the campus and how I would fit into that program."

Fresh off an appearance in the final championship game of the BCS era, Auburn has a lot to offer recruits. Henderson saw that for himself.

"Auburn was fun. I talked to the coaches like the position coach for the defensive backs. I talked to the defensive coordinator as well. They were talking about how I would fit in because of my height. They're looking for tall corners."

This spring will bring trips to Georgia Tech and maybe some other schools. NC State has had success at Mallard Creek previously, signing Jaylen Samuels in the class of 2014 and Henderson hopes to visit the Pack but he wants to speak with the coaches soon first.

"I haven't talked to State recently but I was trying to go down there because I wasn't able to make their Junior Day. I was going to try to come up there soon. The last time I talked to them was probably around January or February. I talked to the new defensive backs coach and one of their other coaches.

"They came down to see me and another teammate, Nafees (Lyon). They looked at somebody else too. I don't know too much about the school but it's a nice school that's very close to home. I like their academics as well. It's close to home plus we played on their field for the state championship. It's a nice school."

Charlotte is the only school that has offered Henderson so far and he's not ruling the 49ers out. As Henderson cited location as factors that could benefit WFU and NCSU, Charlotte can offer a proximity unlike any other school.

Mallard Creek defeated Wake Forest 59-21 in the state title game at Carter-Finley last year.
