Hinton: "I Love The School"

Southern Durham (NC) quarterback Kendall Hinton talks about NC State and his recruitment.

You'd be hard pressed to find a quarterback from the state of North Carolina that was more successful than Southern Durham's Kendall Hinton in 2013. All the junior signal caller did was throw for 3,975 yards  39 touchdowns while adding an impressive 1,185 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns on the ground. Along the way he helped lead the Spartans to a 3A state championship in a come from behind victory over Crest.

While listed generously at 6-0, 185 pounds, Hinton is smallish by college standards but NC State has had success with smaller QBs in the past and they wasted little time in offering a scholarship. They've made him a priority and would love nothing more than to add him to a roster that will include his favorite target from 2013, WR Maurice Trowell.

Hinton talked with Pack Pride recently and explained what it is that he likes about the Wolfpack.

"I love the school," he said. "I love the coaching staff, just the program itself. It gives me a good feeling. They're telling me about maybe staying and playing close to home. They let me know I can be a play maker if I go there. They like that I can get out of the pocket and make plays."

Landing Hinton won't be a given as he currently sits at five offers.

"My most recent offer was from Appalachian State. I've also got offers from East Carolina, NC State, Duke and NC Central."

Hinton visited NC State about a week ago and through the early going, it's another in-state program that's presenting the biggest challenge to the Pack.

"It's a toss up right now between Duke and NC State. They are my top two. I kind of go back and forth between those two. I was thinking about making my decision sometime this summer. I'll probably take some more visits to State and Duke sometime soon."

Hinton is rated a three-star prospect by Scout.com.
