"We didn't make it where we wanted to, but I think I did pretty good," said Hughes. "I don't have any regrets except for not getting out of the second round."
A dynamic athlete, the 5-foot-11, 170-pounder holds offers from programs like NC state, North Carolina, Clemson, ECU, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech among others with the most recent coming from Auburn and Louisville.
He could play cornerback, wide receiver and special teams on the next level.
"Most of them are recruiting me as an athlete," said Hughes. "It's mostly corner, but some are saying receiver. It's mostly corner though."
Hughes said that his most recent visits were to North Carolina and NC State.
"I was at Carolina for the Duke game, and I was at NC State for junior day."
What did he think of his NC State visit?
"It went good," said Hughes. "I like the facilities, and the coaching staff is great. They showed me a good time."
Tailbacks coach Des Kitchings is recruiting Hughes for the Wolfpack.
"He's a great coach," Hughes added. "I met him my sophomore year so we've built a strong relationship."
He was also impressed with his North Carolina trip.
"The atmosphere for that basketball game was great. I had a good time there."
Hughes, who has now taken trips to NC State, North Carolina, East Carolina, and Florida, hopes to take more trips prior to making a decision.
"I'm pretty much wide open right now," he said. "I'll maybe start narrowing it down in the summer and I'll commit before or after the season. I haven't decided yet."
