2016 Intro: Jamie Newman

Jamie Newman had a breakout sophomore season. Due to his efforts, the 2016 Graham (N.C.) quarterback is starting to attract interest from multiple college coaching staffs.

"Right now, I'm hearing from Duke, N.C. State, Penn State, Wake Forest, ECU, Elon and Western Carolina," said Jamie Newman. "I'd also like to hear from Clemson."

Which school could be the first to offer?

"I think Duke could be first," said the 6-foot-3 1/2, 214-pound Newman. "They invited me to their junior day and they showed me a lot of love when I went down there."

Newman's most recent visit was to N.C. State.

"I went up there for their spring game," he said. "I enjoyed talking to all the coaches. I talked to (safeties) coach (Clayton) White, who's my recruiting coach the most."

With summer just weeks away, the Graham standout will soon turn his focus to camps.

"I know I'm going to Duke and State," Newman said. "I'm also going to try to get to Western Carolina, and maybe Clemson and Virginia Tech."

He will be looking to build of a strong sophomore campaign.

"I want to help us win a conference championship," Newman said. "We were one game short last year. We have gotten better every year, so we just want to keep progressing as a program."
