Morehead Ready To Recruit For NC State

Now committed to NC State, Gibsonville (NC) Easten Guilford safety Jarius Morehead hopes to bring others with him.

NC State landed their sixth commitment for the class of 2015 on Saturday when Gibsonville (NC) Eastern Guilford S Jarius Morehead pledged to the Wolfpack during an unofficial visit.

The Pack had been at the top of Morehead's list for months and he nearly pulled the trigger to NC State several weeks ago but held off. On Saturday he made it official.

"I was just waiting until the next time I came up here to NC State to commit. Every time I come down here it always feels like I'm already a part of the family. That's good to know that you have that support and they've already got your back.

"Coach White is recruiting me and he was happy and smiling and all that when I told him. He had been waiting on it so it was good to see a smile on his face. Coach Doeren was real happy. He was waiting for me to commit too and he got what he wanted."

At 6-1, 185 pounds Morehead finished his junior season with 40 tackles, two interceptions, nine pass breakups and a forced fumble on defense. Offensively, he had 239 yards receiving and two touchdowns. At a recent Shrine Bowl combine he recorded a solid time of 4.56-seconds in the 40-yard dash.

Morehead added that it's a huge relief to have recruiting behind him as he can now focus on his senior season and a future at NC State

"I can just relax and focus on Eastern and my academics and after that I can just get ready for NC State," he said. "I'm solid to NC State and I'm not looking at any other schools."

Now that he's officially on board with NC State, Morehead said he plans to go after at least one highly regarded prospect still on the Wolfpack's uncommitted recruiting board.

"I told them I was going to try to help them get Reggie Gallaspy because his girlfriend goes to our school so we talk about every other day about what school we want to go to and stuff like that."

The rising senior also held offers from Tennessee, UNC, Clemson, ECU, and Wake Forest. He is rated a three-star prospect by
