"I now have offers from NC State, Western Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa State, and Rutgers," said Shutack. "That feels good. It seems like just a few weeks ago I only had an offer from Western Michigan, and they were trying to get me to commit.
"I just went to camps at Missouri, Michigan State, and Tennessee, and I think Tennessee is close to offering me. They told me that they really like me and want me to get back down there for a longer visit."
Shutack burst on the scene this spring at a Nike NFTC where he performed well against a group of highly-rated defensive linemen.
"I've gone up against kids who have offers," he previously told Scout.com. "I went up against (2015 defensive end) Jashon Cornell and me and him split one-on-one reps, so it's kind of frustrating to go up against all these kids with 20 times more offers than me. Mostly, I'm looking forward to is finally getting more offers and having double-digit offers."
"He has the type of frame you want in an offensive tackle," says Scout.com Recruiting Analyst Allen Trieu. "Shutack still has to continue to fill out and get physically stronger, but he is a hard-working kid with good upside.
"He is more of a projection than a 'right now' guy, but I really like his upside."
A leader has emerged for Shutack.
"NC State is my leader," the three-star offensive tackle stated. "They've shown me the most interest, and I like the school. I went down there for an unofficial visit, and I was impressed with the campus and where the players stayed. Plus, I like the overall feel of Raleigh."
Shutack has also developed a strong relationship with offensive line coach Mike Uremovich.
"We talk a lot," he said. "Coach Uremovich came to my school back in January, and it seems like we haven't stopped talking. He's told me that I'm a priority for them."
Does Shutack have a timeframe for making a decision?
"I'm really just focusing on having a great senior year," he said. "I really want to win a state title for my school. I'll probably wait and make my decision after senior season."
