Doeren: "It Was A Great Day"

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Dave Doeren met with the media following Wednesday's practice. It was the first day in pads for the Wolfpack.

"It was a great day. I think it was our best practice from start to finish."

"There was tempo, there was energy, there was competition. Really good focus and body language at the end. It was fun to be a part of that."

"As a coach, the greatest moment is when you get to change someone's life. When you have someone like Garrett and Devin O'Connor who have fought to stay in school, families have sacrificed financially. They've been here three years and have over a 3.0 GPA. It's a great moment as a coach and the team celebrates the hard work."

"Not at all. Garrett has earned. There is a competition going on there at the two spot and that has nothing to do with it. Since I've been here I've been able to do that 10 times, and it's a great moment for me and the team. It's helped us build our walk-on program too."

"I'm proud of him. I need him to continue. He's one play away from being in the game."

"Both of those guys have had different setbacks. Jarvis is still fighting through his. We're taking him day-by-day. We want to be smart with his knee."

"Shad is back. He's met all the requirements we set out for him during the suspension. He has now back full status with the football team."

"Shad served his suspension for six months, and had a lot of things he went through to come back. We feel good about what he's done. He's met every expectation on the field, academically, and everything. We're excited that's behind him and he can move forward now."

"Shad has had a lot of moments here individually throughout his career. Now it's about him being a consistent performer. That's his goal."

"They are all getting carries with the first team right now, except for Dakwa. You'll see all three of those guys in there."

"They've been great. Obviously having a starting quarterback entering camp helps. You have continuity. Last year we were having cadence issues all the time... it's just totally different."

"The way that Jacoby has taken the offense and is leading it helps a lot."

"Tony is a senior right now. He's a great leader for us. Skillset wise they are all a little different. We want to use all three of them. Because of Tony's leadership he would be in the lead right now."

"Drew is the guy that won the Warrior Award for the summer for the hardest work ethic and greatest gains."

"He's playing hard. He made a great pursuit play there at the end of practice."

"I think there is potential for those schools to really get left out."

"You're going to fight for the best thing for your club."
