Virginia safety Tim Glass has offers from ACC schools and he’s familiar with the coaches and programs that are recruiting him.
His latest offer is from Virginia. Glass knows a lot about the Cavaliers. He’s met former elite recruit Andrew Brown who will be a freshman this fall. Besides that he has a lot of respect for Mike London even though the Cavaliers coach seems to be on the hot seat this year.
“UVA is really nice. I like their program with Coach London and all the coaches up there are great. Coach Archer and those guys. I feel good about them. They’re looking to do good this season. They got some big time names coming in this season and they’re looking to go on a run. It’s kind of like a home environment for me.”
No one doubts London’s ability to close on talent from Virginia but he will need to go on a run this year without a doubt. Glass doesn’t seem bothered and has a strong interest level in the school.
NC State doesn’t have the benefit of being an in state school but they are a familiar choice anyways.
“NC State offered me before my sophomore year. That was my very first offer,” recalled the Lynchburg Christian (VA) junior. “We’ll be talking on and off right now. I’m talking to Coach Barlow.”
It was Tom O’Brien’s staff that first started recruiting Glass.
“I went to a camp when I was in the 8th grade and they were sending me a whole lot of mail going into my 9th grade year. I knew they were interested. I called up there and went to a game to visit my 9th grade year. They showed a lot of love up there and I really started liking it. I went up there again my 10th grade year because a coach told me to go up for a practice. It was one of the practices during the season. Not during the spring. They showed me around and he called me into his office and gave me an offer. But I figured out they were really interested during my 9th grade year.”
It was Dave Doeren that gave Glass the stamp of approval for the offer even though he had been hearing from the Wolfpack under the coaching staff before his.
No matter who the coach is Glass is confident NC State will be one of his top choices.
“They have great facilities and they got a really good and strong coaching staff. They’re looking to do good this year. They got some new players and they’re looking to win. Their fan base is terrific. They told me they sell out about every home game. They have a good program going over there.”
Glass has been to NC State three times. He said he has been to Virginia Tech at least that many times although the Hokies have yet to offer. Glass visited North Carolina, UVA and ECU this year too.
But does the edge belong to the Cavaliers or Wolfpack of those that have offered?
“I don’t know about favorites right now. I probably won’t know about that until a little bit more into my junior year.”
