Boyd With Two Early Offers

Apex (NC) wideout Ian Boyd has a couple of early offers and interest from NC State.

Ian Boyd will probably play college football in one of the nation’s major conferences and he’s right in NC State’s backyard.

The junior has already landed a couple of FBS offers and there will likely be many more before all is said and done.

Virginia Tech and East Carolina have issued verbal offers to Boyd (6-3, 200). The Apex receiver is hoping he can pick up more offers this year. If he has a big season NC State’s coaches might be the first to know about it. You can probably expect to spot a coach from the Pack’s staff or two at Apex games this fall. Because when you have a talented recruit in your backyard you do your homework and try to keep him home.

Body hasn't communicated with State recently but he has visited in the past and liked what he saw.

“I visited State the summer of my sophomore year. I was there for an unofficial visit and I got to see the classes, the field, the player’s lounge, the dorm rooms and I think that’s it. I liked the freshman football player’s dorm rooms. I thought it was nice. It’s a nice campus.”

Boyd said he spoke with a couple of coaches when he was visiting last summer just more than a year ago. He was at NC State more recently than that for a 7-on-7 tournament that his team went to collectively.

“I did pretty good. I think I did good that day.”

But he did not talk to any coaches this time around.

Boyd’s mother attended NC State for her college education so it’s a place that he thinks she would like to see him end up at. Before that happens he has to earn an offer. He’s hoping to do that this fall.

He is also a basketball recruit that believes he may even be better on the court than he is on the field. He was at East Carolina for a basketball event when he picked up the football offer from the Pirates. Virginia Tech offered this summer too.

Boyd is currently rated a three-star prospect by Scout.com.
