Brian Sessoms has been the object of two defensive game plans this year and the Wolfpack commitment is still getting used to all the attention.
Carver is winless through two games but Sessoms has tried to do his part. Their 40-12 loss to Mt. Tabor to start the season didn’t have many bright spots. Sessoms wasn’t able to touch the ball and Carver kept the ball on the ground for much of the game because of the way he was double teamed.
Their last game was a much closer 20-7 loss to Dudley. The offense still didn’t get much going but Sessoms had 100 yards receiving including an 88 yard scoring strike.
Sessoms (5-8, 170) visited NC State for the Wolfpack’s game over the weekend and while it hasn’t always been pretty he’s just happy the team is 2-0.
“I thought it was a good game. I really liked the uniforms. They came out in all black. But I was really looking at the offense and I like the spread they’re running. I think I can make some things happen in it. I really did like the offense. They came out with a win. They’re starting off 2-0. I think last year they won like three games right? So starting off 2-0 looks a whole lot better. I like the big recruits Coach Doeren brought in. I was talking to some people thinking about coming to NC State. I was just hanging out with them and spoke to them so I got to meet a few of them.”
Sessoms talked to the Pack’s coaches before the game but he left during halftime so he wasn’t able to see much of the action. He did see enough to know that there’s a chance to contribute.
“I definitely think I can get some early playing time if I work hard and do what I’ve got to do. I can come in and make some things happen for them. They haven’t said too much about where I’ll be playing. Right now I think I’ll be playing a lot more slot. I don’t think they know if I can play outside or not. I’ll go prove I can play all around the field for them. They do a lot of drag routes, a lot of screen plays and some jets. They do stuff to get the slot player the ball.”
Sessoms said he’s thinking about trying to enroll in January but he has to take the SAT again before that becomes a possibility. Once he has that test score he will know what his options are.
