CFN's Take: NC State vs. Presbyterian

College Football News takes a look at NC State's upcoming game against Presbyterian.

Presbyterian (2-1) at NC State (3-0) Sept. 20, 6:00, ESPN3

Here's The Deal: NC State didn’t just want to be 3-0 at this stage of the season. It wanted to be ascending. So far, so good. The Pack is coming off its best game of 2014, and arguably of the Dave Doeren era, whipping South Florida in Tampa, 49-17. Barring an unexpected face plant, State will take a perfect—and a head of steam—into the start of ACC play. Presbyterian has rebounded from an opening day loss to Northern Illinois with back-to-back home wins over Bluefield College and Furman.

Why Presbyterian Might Win: This is a classic look-ahead game for the Pack, with a huge win behind it and Florida State up next. The Blue Hose is enjoying momentum of its own, shutting down Furman with an oppressive defensive display.

Why NC State Might Win: The Pack began to put it all together last weekend, outgaining USF, 589-159. The offense was perfectly balanced, mixing Jacoby Brissett’s passes with the running of Shadrach Thornton, Tony Creecy and Matt Dayes. And the D suffocated the Bulls.

Who To Watch Out For: Brissett is really coming into his own as the face of the Pack program. He’s completing 70% of his throws, he hasn’t been picked since the opener and he’ll use his feet when necessary. The Florida transfer looks like the right leader to help gradually turn around this team.

What’s Going To Happen: Even if the Pack doesn’t bring its ‘A’ game this week, it won’t impact the outcome. State will gash overmatched Presbyterian, empty the bench and beginning thinking ahead to the Noles before the final gun sounds.

Prediction: NC State 52 … Presbyterian 13
