Vandenberg Signs With Knicks

NEW YORK - Jordan Vandenberg, who graduated from NC State last spring after five seasons in the Wolfpack program, has signed a contract with the New York Knicks. Phil Jackson, President of the New York Knicks, made the announcement Thursday night.

Jordan Vandenberg, a 7-1 center from Melbourne, Australia, was a key player on Mark Gottfried's third NC State team. He started 32 games, averaging 4.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. He shot .680 from the floor and was among the ACC's leaders in blocked shots with 1.4 per game.

Vandenberg, who trimmed 40 pounds to prepare for his final collegiate season, was at his best as a senior. He scored a career-high 18 points last December against East Carolina, a performance that featured seven dunks. He delivered some clutch performances during NC State's 2014 postseason march, scoring 10 points in the Pack's 66-63 ACC tourney win over Syracuse. He also totaled nine points and four blocks in a first round NCAA Tournament win over Xavier.

The former Wolfpack center spent last summer on New York's summer league team. He appeared in two games and pulled down 4.0 rebounds per game.
