Wiltz Down to Two

Baton Rouge (LA) offensive lineman Aaron Wiltz talks about his visit to NC State and his decision.

Baton Rouge (LA) Catholic OL Aaron Wiltz received an interesting tweet shortly after departing his official visit at NC State.

“We had landed in Georgia right after my visit (to NC State) and this tweet popped up- ‘not only will NC State and UCF be battling for a bowl game but they’ll also be battling for O-line commit Aaron Wiltz’ and I was like, “hold up. The coaches have to be messing with me.” This can’t really be true.

Except it was true. Wiltz, committed to Central Florida since September, will decide between the Golden Knights and Wolfpack in less than a week.

He talked with Pack Pride about his first visit to Raleigh and what stood out to him about the Wolfpack.

“I really liked the campus. I liked the area because it was kind of like Louisiana. I really like the people that are going there now. I felt like they are a big family and I could go there without any problems. (The current commits) were all trying to get me to come and I got along with all of them. So there were just telling me that I needed to come with them.

“I really enjoyed the academic part, too. For most people that part is boring but I really want to be an engineer. But there are different things I can major in and a lot of different things I’m interested in.”

Wiltz said there was one other aspect of the visit that jumped out at him.

“The NC State fans were really freaking out and I love the NC State fan base. That was something else that really stood out to me.”

NC State hopes to sign one more tackle in this class. The Pack chose not to pressure Wiltz but did let him know that there are others on the board as well.

“They said they weren’t going to push me and I really respected that. They just made it known to me that they have a guy coming in (on an official visit) and if I want to go there then I have to make a decision. I’m just thinking over everything and how much I enjoyed the visit and I’m going to decide between NC State and UCF after I take my visit to UCF.”

Wiltz talked about why he committed to Central Florida back in September.

“We have family down there that I basically grew up with my whole life. That’s definitely a benefit. We would always go down there over the summer and spend time with our friends. I like the area and to go to school in Florida would be pretty awesome- especially near Orlando. I really like the coaches down there too. The coaches from both schools are really good and I like the way they coach. It’s definitely going to be a hard decision.”

Wiltz said he hopes to make a final decision a couple of days after his visit to Central Florida.
