Locker Room Report: Mark Gottfried

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Mark Gottfried met with the media following the loss to Wofford.

"First of all, I told their coach and a number of their players that they played their hearts out. They played like a veteran team."

"Obviously we came up maybe one-tenth of a second short to win the game and really that was it."

"That is one that happens so fast. I think Trevor is kind of beating himself up for no reason. Trevor did everything right. I thought [Lacey] played hard. I thought our whole team played hard. We just had some tough breaks."

"The game just ended up being an immensely intense game from the tip to the buzzer. We felt like it was going to be like that."

"[The technical foul] was [on] me. I don't know if I ever got an explanation. I don't know that they have to give me one. I never swore. I never used any foul language. I thought that Trevor got tripped on the play driving to the basket and I told him, and I got a technical for that."

"To be honest, maybe a couple of weeks ago (he learned that Hess would officiate). It really wasn't an issue with me."

"We have got to get better. We had some defensive breakdowns late."

"Your casual fan, they see a team from a power conference, BCS conference, they automatically think they are better. The reality is when you play a team like this; these kinds of games are good games. I like playing them. We will learn from it. We have got to bounce back and play on Wednesday night against Tennessee. I think they beat Butler today. Not a whole lot of time for us to be pouting around. We've got to get ourselves picked up and ready to go for a quick turnaround."

"[Reynolds Coliseum] is unbelievable. The crowd was phenomenal and it was fun. [A] great basketball atmosphere today."
