NC State only offered Denzel Johnson (6-2, 195 pounds) two weeks ago. He has quickly become a top target for the Wolfpack and he takes his official visit to Raleigh at the end of this month.
Johnson visits Clemson from 1/16-1/18, Georgia Southern from 1/23-1/25 and then NC State from 1/30-2/1. The visit to NC State happens just before Johnson signs with a school. NC State has offered. He has visited Towson already. Towson, NC State, South Carolina State, Georgia State and Liberty have offered.
Clemson has not offered yet but Johnson said they would be his top choice if they do.
“They’ve shown a lot of interest. I just don’t think they know what they want me to play yet.”
Johnson (6-2, 194) went to a game at Clemson this year. He went to a South Carolina game and he went to games at Liberty and Towson too.
Clemson may not know what position they want Johnson to play but NC State wants him to play receiver.
“It’s their running backs coach that’s recruiting me. I only spoke to the head coach once and the running backs coach one time. They want me at receiver. I was excited to get that one. I don’t know a lot about them. I do know Freddie Phillips. He’s already committed up there. He’s going to be a freshman. We hang out after school. He said he loved it up there.”
Johnson had 900 receiving yards at Flora H.S. this season. But that’s not all. He rushed for 700 yards and made his mark on special teams with four return touchdowns.
“I was playing receiver, safety, corner, wildcat, and kick return and punt return. I can do a little bit of everything.”
He will not announce his decision until February 6.
