Wolfpack Lands 4-Star Cornerback

NC State has landed a huge commitment from 2016 4-star cornerback James Valdez.

Fresh off of landing two big time commits for the class of 2015, NC State may have landed their biggest commitment yet for the class of 2016 when Orangeburg-Wilkinson 4-star CB James Valdez pledged to the Wolfpack.

“Yes sir I committed this morning,” Valdez told Pack Pride.” I decided to go ahead and do it now because I wanted to get recruiting out of the way. I visited recently and I liked the campus and they have a great football program and academics. Coach Kitchings was recruiting me and we have a good relationship.”

Valdez holds early offers from UNC, South Carolina and Tennessee in addition to NC State with recruiting interest coming from Clemson, Florida, Florida State and Oregon among others.

Valdez said he let the NC State coaching staff know of his decision this morning and he said they let him know that he was big piece of the 2016 recruiting puzzle.

“I talked to all the coaches this morning. They were ecstatic and told me they were waiting on me to commit. I looked at it as to whether I could go in and play early. They’re definitely coming up. They added some good recruits this year and I just wanted to add on.”

Valdez (5-11, 180 pounds) is rated the No. 1 cornerback in South Carolina for the class of 2016 and is the No. 139 player in the nation regardless of position according to Scout.com.
