Recruiting Scene: Grier was a complete unknown on the recruiting trail until last December. Ball State was his only other offer but he became a priority for NC State after Bo Hines’ announcement that he was transferring.
The Pack immediately expressed interest and brought Grier up on an unofficial visit in mid-January. State offered him a blueshirt opportunity and he quickly accepted.
Grier will come to NC State next August and should be placed on scholarship at that time. His commitment will actually count towards the class of 2016.
Why NC State? “The feeling I had inside when I got the offer- I can’t really explain it. I was so excited. I had to hold it in but it was a great experience. I enjoyed everything about the campus, the coaching staff, the team, academics. I just loved the time I was there and I can’t wait to come.”
Picked NC State Over: Ball State
Scouting Report: “We had a chance to watch Grier in the last two state title games and all he did was produce. Grier consistently finds ways to make plays, especially at crucial times during the game.
While he may not be the biggest guy around, Grier does have good speed and gives you 100% at all times. He’s a solid route-runner and has a knack for getting open. A redshirt season is probably the next step but the pieces are in place for Grier to grow into a solid contributor down the road.” - Pack Pride Recruiting Analyst Steve Williams
