Recruiting Scene: Johnson initially committed to Miami last April but that lasted barely a week before he decommitted and decided to reopen his recruiting.

NC State emerged as a prime candidate after hosting him at their camp over the summer. He immediately hit it off with defensive line coach Ryan Nielsen and shortly after camp concluded Johnson announced that he would be choosing from NC State, Oregon and Tennessee.

Johnson would ultimately pick the Pack and later became one of their more vocal recruiters on social media and planned a prominent role in helping State land several additional prospects.

Why NC State? "My relationship with Coach Neilsen was important. We have been talking a lot and I like him a lot. When I visited, the whole coaching staff showed me love and I felt at home with the players too."

Picked NC State Over: Oregon and Tennessee among others

Scouting Report:  "Johnson looks like a nose guard, but he can move. He played light on his feet defeating interior offensive linemen off the ball. He worked his hands well and he showed good quickness off the ball." -Scout.com Recruiting Analyst Chad Simmons
