AUDIO: Lacey And Abu Discuss Virginia Tech

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State's Trevor Lacey and Abdul-Malik Abu discuss the upcoming game against Virginia Tech.

"We know what these last couple of games mean for us and what we're trying to do."

"We went up to Louisville and got a big road win and hopefully we can bring that same intensity, energy, and mindset over for the rest of the season."

"I wouldn't say that. Coach loves his high-post offense, it's just that particular game and the way Louisville guards... we really weren't going to be effective with our basic offense."

"We're still going to run our offense. With Cat and his ability to penetrate and get guys the ball, you'll see him beat guys off the dribble more. That's a little change, other than just spreading it out and ball-screen."

"I knew they were going to do that. I give them mess all the time."

"That post presence inside makes the defense stay honest... he rebounded and defended well. It's really [Anya] staying out of foul trouble. When he's out of foul trouble and on the floor our defensive intensity picks up because we know he's behind us and can change shots and [get] blocks."

"I try to stay away from all that. I'd probably get caught up in it and say something to somebody."

"I've heard about our strength of schedule, but I don't follow [bracketology]."

"We're going to try and make our job easier by winning games and painting a better picture. He's put us in the right situation."

"They spread you out, go four guards, and shoot the three. We'll have to keep our man in front of us where we don't over help and allow them to kick out for threes. We have to rebound and take advantage of our size."

"I don't even Tweet much. I see a lot of people get in trouble with it and... I'll speak my mind. I feel like if someone says something I'll say something back and I'll be the one in trouble."

"I think so. We also have to show that we're a tournament team on the court. It's not about our opinion or what we say we can do. It's what we do on the court. We still have to prove ourselves."

"What really helped us was we didn't have a quick turnaround. We've had time to prepare and get focused for Virginia Tech. After the Duke win it was right back to Carolina and those games right afterwards."

"We had more time to focus on our next task."

"I hit a buzzer-beater at Alabama the first game of my sophomore year."

"Everybody is playing to be in the tournament... we're trying to finish up strong in ACC play."

"Our goal is to get better everyday."

"I don't go searching for it."

"I don't want to be biting my nails, worrying if we're going to get in."

"I'd rather find out that way... I'm not trying to keep up with it."

"We're a deep team. We know what everybody can do. We know everybody won't have a great night every night. That's a good thing about us, the next guy can step up and show what he can do."

"We all know what we can do and coach Gottfried understands this team now, and we all understand each other."

"Cat is playing crazy right now and that just makes everybody else better."

Abdul-Malik Abu

"We just want to try and win every game. That's the goal every time we go out there."

"There are distractions everywhere. Brackets are just fun."

"As a player you want to go out there and win... the best chance you have of making a tournament is winning."

"I can't pick another team over State."

"Yes, it's something coach brought up a long time ago. Coach said we need to be consistent and stay on top of things."

"We have to go out there and perform for two halves... execute and win."

"We feel like we can play with anybody in the country, and we are still a team finding our identity. It's going to take a little bit from everyone to pull out a big win against good teams."

"It just takes a team effort every time."
