RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State's Mark Gottfried met with the media to discuss tomorrow's game against Syracuse.

"I don't think anything that's going on with their team will have much affect on our guys... I really don't. It's an important game for our team."

"I've told our players that I don't think anyone has anymore to play for than we do. There's a lot at stake for us, so regardless of any other factors, we control our own energy and we control how we prepare. That's important for our guys."

"They are long. Their guards are bigger and cover a lot of ground. You have to make sure you get good shots. I think it's also a situation where when we've played Syracuse we've tried not to rely only on the three-point shot."

"You have to make some, there's no question, but you also have to find ways to get the ball around the rim. Those are things we've worked on the last couple of days, and hopefully our guys are ready."

"No, I've watched it a long time, and I've also watched it go in a lot... even when he was young and my son was playing with him he was a very good shooter then. So, it's one of those things, you just let it ride because of his ability to make them."

"He's a quiet person in general, quiet type of leader. He leads with his play. With Ralston, the other players know the game is really important to him, how he approaches it."

"He's quiet, but very effective as a leader."

"It's always important to win but for us we still have a lot to play for. We're still trying to make a case for the NCAA Tournament, there's ACC seedings at stake, potentially NCAA seedings at stake if you're capable of getting into that tournament."

"I'm proud of Desmond. It's been a difficult year when you don't play as much as you'd like to. He's hung in there with a great attitude. He's practiced hard everyday and when we've called upon him to play he's done a nice job. It's not an easy position to be in. I understand and I think he's done a nice job. He's on track to graduate in the spring, and I'm proud of him for that."

"I understand guys, they want to play. He hasn't played this year as much as he'd like to. I get it, and I understand."

"I think so, but not only Ralston we need some guys to make some shots. We just can't rely on three-point shots."
