The Wolfpack checks in at 20-13 and went 10-8 in the Atlantic Coast Conference with wins over Duke, Louisville, and North Carolina. The Pack has played the sixth-toughest schedule in the country and a non-conference slate that ranks 30th nationally, both terrific marks.
Gottfried believes his team has done enough to solidify a bid.
"I'm not on the committee, but I think we've certainly earned the right to be in the tournament," he said after the ACC Tournament loss to Duke. "We'll find out on Sunday like everybody else. But I think that we've proven that we're one of the teams in the at-large pool that needs to play. I think we've done enough, but we'll see."
The Wolfpack has already received some good news as starting point guard Cat Barber has been cleared to play after leaving the Duke game with a neck injury. Barber averages 12.1 points per game and leads the Wolfpack in assists (3.81).
He has been terrific down the stretch for NC State, averaging 16.0 points over the last 11 games.
With Barber cleared, NC State can be a dangerous team in the NCAA Tournament. They've proven to be extremely competitive in one of the nation's best conferences and has been able to go on the road and win games.
What seed will NC State receive? Which regional will they play in? Who will be their opening round opponent? That we don't know and will find out tonight, but here are some late projections regarding the Wolfpack.
