NC State sophomore linebacker Airius Moore answers six rapid-fire questions from Pack Pride.

How has spring practice been going for you? It looks like you've been moved from middle linebacker to weakside linebacker, and coach Doeren said it was about getting the 11 best players on the field.
It makes me feel like my hard work is paying off. I still have a long way to go, but I will keep working hard and see where it takes me.

Spring practice has been fun. I'm getting a chance to start now. It's fun to be able to play and contribute to the team's success.

I've got bigger and quicker in winter conditioning, and this is my first spring practice. In Ohio you don't do that. It's different, but it's fun because you miss it.

What are some of the main differences from playing middle linebacker and weakside linebacker, and has your relationship with Jerod Fernandez eased that transition?
At middle I had to make more calls. The big difference though is you're more out in space at weakside... you have more coverage responsibilities, but it's still pretty much the same. It's still linebacker.

I'm good friends with Jerod. When we both were at middle we were competing... it was a competition every day. We're still doing the same things... we're seeing now who can make the most plays at WILL and MIKE.

Really though, the whole linebacker crew... we're all competing, watching film together, and trying to get better.

Did you time playing middle linebacker help you with playing weakside?
Coach Hux encourages both linebackers to be vocal. The MIKE makes a lot of the calls, but we can make calls together, and it just helps with the overall communication on the field.

I think it helps me... there's different things that go on frontside and backside of the defense. I take pride in being a smart football player, and playing both helps me understand everything on the football field. It helps me play better.

NC State has put some linebackers in the NFL recently. Is that added motivation?
I've heard a lot about them. Coach Hux talks about them, and I know there's a lot of linebackers who went to the NFL.

If any of us can do the same thing or mirror their success than we can be really good.

This is your first Kay Yow Spring Game. What do you think it's going to be like?
Last year I went to the spring game. It was cool watching it, but now I get to be out there. Some fans will come, so it's going to be really cool.

How do you feel about the 2016 season? It seems expectations will be high.
I think we're about to do really well. As long as we continue to push each other... that's going to help us be a lot better in the future.
